Ikonart Stencil Film for custom reusable stencils

Description

Our original Ikonart Stencil Film is designed to be used with the Ikonart Custom Stencil Kit to create custom, reusable silkscreen stencils. These blue stencils are perfect for glass, mirrors, ceramic, chalkboards and other smooth, flat surfaces. The adhesive is gentle enough so the stencils won't distort when you are removing them from these types of smooth surfaces.

This new purple film was specifically designed for DIY screen printing on textiles, but the more aggressive adhesive makes it the perfect choice for wood projects as well. 

NOTE ON POST-EXPOSURE
Post-exposing our Ikonart Stencil Film will increase the durability when reusing your stencils. After you washout and dry your stencil for the first time, just pop it back under the exposure light for a minimum of 2 minutes (we recommend 2-3 minutes; you cannot over post-expose the film). This step is absolutely necessary to increase the durability when washing and re-washing your stencil for multiple uses.

DON'T FORGET PRINTER FILM
When ordering your stencil film, don't forget to also order either Inkjet Printer Film or Laser Printer Film so you can make your stencils!

    Screen development

    I noticed that the screens hold dots better when washing at a temperature between cold and warm. If you have a screen in your negative(similar to halftone) it will wash out of the mesh screen if the water your rinsing the screen with is too hot. It takes longer at cooler temperatures to wash out the screen, but it is worth getting a better screen to screen print with. The videos indicate you should use a water temperature that is between warm and hot but cool to warm works better for me.

    I was super nervous about making stencils. I made 2 right out of the gate and plan to make so many more. I am hooked. It was so easy to do and they look great!

    Worked Perfectly

    I was a bit nervous about using these where they are not supposed to be in the light until you are ready to use them. I used these for my stencils for my cookies, so I only needed a smaller size. I cut the size that I needed in a room with minimal light and then used them with the design and they worked perfectly. The film washed off with hot water as it was supposed to do. This is a great system to use for multiple stencil ideas.
